The Most Popular Questions We Receive at The Bali Florist - Part 1/2

At The Bali Florist, we receive numerous enquiries each month through WhatsApp messages as well as emails — from romantic flower surprises and birthday bouquets, to Bali villa deliveries, hospital gifts, weddings, and “help-I-forgot-my-anniversary” emergencies. Occasionally, we also receive the classic: “I need to send something anonymously but I do not know her address… can you assist?”

Over the years, certain questions have come up again and again, so we thought we’d gather the most common ones into one easy guide. Whether you’re ordering flowers from overseas or sending a last-minute surprise within Bali, here are some of the enquiries we receive most often.

1. “Do you offer same-day flower delivery in Bali?”

Yes — we do.

For most areas in Bali, we offer same-day delivery for orders placed before 12 noon (Bali time), subject to flower availability and delivery schedules.

A tiny gentle reminder though: if your order comes through after 12 noon, it will naturally be delivered later in the afternoon. We do occasionally receive orders at 12:47pm requesting the 9:00am–1:00pm slot… and while we deeply admire the optimism, even our drivers have not yet mastered time travel. That said, Bali traffic can also be wonderfully unpredictable — especially during holidays, ceremonial periods, sudden rainstorms, and mysterious moments where everyone on the island seems to leave home at the exact same time — so we always recommend ordering as early as possible whenever you can.

2. “Can I order flowers from overseas?”

Absolutely.

In fact, about 70% of our clients actually order internationally through our website for loved ones holidaying or living in Bali. Some send flowers for birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, apologies… and occasionally for situations we suspect may require a slightly longer explanation afterwards. Orders can be placed directly through our website using secure online payment methods, including international credit cards. We are incredibly grateful to have regular clients from Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, USA, Germany, France, Greece, UAE, and beyond. For our delivery coverage areas within Bali, please refer to our Delivery FAQs. Thankfully, love travels internationally — even if the flowers themselves stay within Bali.

3. “Do the flowers look exactly like the photos?”

We always aim to create arrangements as close as possible to the photos and overall aesthetic shown online. However, flowers are seasonal and availability changes frequently — especially in Bali where many premium blooms are imported — so slight substitutions may occasionally occur, particularly during peak seasons and last-minute orders.

That said, we always prioritise maintaining the same colour palette, style, fullness, and overall feeling of the arrangement. And if something genuinely cannot be achieved due to flower availability or logistics, we will always communicate this honestly beforehand. At the end of the day, good communication is just as important as good flowers.

Also, please note that all our photos are lovingly taken by us on our own iPhones — occasionally with a tiny bit of AI help to clean up the background, not the flowers themselves. We are an independent florist, not Vogue magazine with a giant production budget.

4. “Are your flowers locally grown?”

This is one of our favourite questions. The honest answer is: partially.

While we proudly use beautiful Indonesian-grown flowers whenever possible, many premium blooms used in our arrangements are imported due to quality, bloom size, longevity, and consistency. Our flowers often come from Ecuador, Colombia, Holland, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia. We also absolutely love working with locally grown Bali tuberoses and anthuriums — two flowers that thrive beautifully in our tropical climate.

Ironically, some flowers travel more internationally before arriving in Bali than some tourists do.

5. “Can you deliver to hotels or villas?”

Yes — almost daily.

We regularly deliver to hotels, private villas and residences, restaurants, beach clubs, retreat centres, and even the occasional wonderfully hidden location reachable only by foot. We also deliver to hospitals, with the exception of certain BIMC Hospitals locations where flowers are unfortunately not permitted beyond the security post. Our team (both admins and drivers) will usually coordinate directly with reception or villa staff if needed.

One small request though: please ensure the recipient’s name and phone number are accurate. Bali villas can sometimes be tucked deep inside tiny gang roads with extremely creative naming systems, and Google Maps occasionally enters its own spiritual journey when a villa name is not properly registered.

6. “Do you provide message cards?”

Of course.

Every arrangement includes a complimentary message card because flowers without words can sometimes feel like unfinished poetry… or at the very least, leave the recipient slightly confused about who sent them. You may leave your message during checkout and we’ll include it with the arrangement. In fact, about 99% of our message cards are still personally handwritten by our team members — because despite living in the digital era, we still believe handwritten notes feel a little warmer and more human.

And those are only the first few questions we often receive at The Bali Florist.

In Part 2, we’ll answer more interesting enquiries — from anonymous flower deliveries and customised bouquets, to why premium roses cost what they do, what happens when recipients disappear mysteriously during delivery, and a few other behind-the-scenes realities of being a florist in Bali.

(Yes, there are stories.)
