After Part 1 of this little behind-the-scenes florist diary, we realised something quite quickly: apparently people are very curious about what actually happens inside a flower shop in Bali.
From mysterious anonymous senders and incomplete villa addresses, to imported roses with dramatic travel histories and customised bouquet requests that occasionally begin with “I trust you completely” (music to a florist’s ears), here are a few more of the questions we receive most often at The Bali Florist.

7. “Can you customise bouquets?”
Yes — but this also depends on our current workload and order volume at the time.
While we absolutely welcome custom bouquet requests, we also believe the best arrangements happen when clients give our florists a little trust and creative freedom. When those two things are present, bouquets somehow tend to shine a little brighter.
For custom bouquets, we usually ask clients to provide a simple “brief” including:
occasion or theme
preferred colour palette
one or two favourite flowers
preferred bouquet style
And of course, if you already have inspiration photos, feel free to send them through. Florists are highly visual creatures.
A tiny caveat though: giving florists too many fixed preferences with very little flexibility can occasionally backfire a little. Flowers are organic, seasonal, and naturally expressive things — so when arrangements become overly constrained, they can sometimes end up looking slightly forced rather than beautifully natural.
In short: a little trust usually creates the prettiest bouquets.
8. “Why are your roses more expensive?”
Going back to Part 1 of this blog where we discussed local and imported flowers — for roses, we mainly use premium Ecuadorian roses. These roses are significantly larger, longer-lasting, and generally more luxurious compared to standard market roses. They are also transported and handled with considerably more care throughout their journey so that by the time they finally arrive in Bali, quality deterioration is kept to an absolute minimum.
We also love combining Ecuadorian roses with premium local roses, as this creates a more dynamic arrangement in terms of colour variation, bloom size, texture, and overall character.
In other words, some bouquets look beautiful precisely because not every rose is trying to look identical.

9. “Can you deliver anonymously?”
Yes. Sometimes romantic surprises are sent anonymously — although we have noticed recipients tend to become remarkably skilled detectives rather quickly. If you prefer anonymity, simply mention it during checkout.
As part of our client and recipient privacy policy, we take confidentiality quite seriously in both directions. The identity of anonymous senders will always remain confidential within The Bali Florist. Likewise, if we are asked to discreetly help obtain or verify a recipient’s address, that information is also kept strictly confidential within our team.
10. “Do you only sell flowers?”
Not anymore. Over the years, we’ve expanded into curated gifting and now also offer artisanal cakes and chocolate pralines, mini teddy bears, farm animal soft toys, wellness gifts, scented candles and diffusers, hampers, greeting cards, glassware, and more.
Our goal has always been to create meaningful gifting experiences rather than simply “selling flowers.”

11. “What happens if the recipient isn’t home?”
This happens more often than you might think.
In such cases, our admin team or drivers will usually contact the recipient directly, coordinate a safer delivery timing, leave the arrangement with reception or security (with permission), or reschedule where necessary.
We deeply care about the condition of the flowers not only when they leave our studio, but also while recipients continue enjoying them days later. Flowers are delicate living things after all — not parcels that can simply be abandoned at the door under the sun or rain.
And yes, we genuinely believe flowers have feelings too.
12. “What’s your most popular flower?”
This honestly depends very much on the season.
For Valentine’s Day, roses are naturally far ahead at the top of the charts. International Women’s Day tends to belong to tulips, while Mother’s Day — depending on which region of the world is celebrating — often favours lilies or orchids.
That said, minimalist elegance and natural European-style arrangements have definitely become increasingly popular within Bali gifting culture.
Soft, elegant, slightly effortless-looking bouquets are very much having their moment right now.

Final Thoughts 🌿
Now that you’ve read through some of the frequently asked enquiries we receive, you’ve probably realised one important thing: florists are unfortunately not magicians.
We cannot always produce highly customised, intricate last-minute arrangements with every specific flower, colour palette, and requirement informed to us one hour before delivery time — especially when nature, flower shipments, Bali traffic, weather, and reality occasionally decide to collaborate against us.
We are, however, creative beings who genuinely care very deeply about our craft. As an artisan florist in Sanur and a Bali flower shop that has existed since 2017 — surviving not only peak seasons but also an entire global pandemic — we have learnt that the most beautiful bouquets often happen when there is a little trust, a little flexibility, and room for flowers to behave naturally rather than mechanically.
Because at the end of the day, we truly believe flowers are never “just flowers.”
They carry apologies, celebrations, long-distance love, condolences, birthday wishes, reunion celebrations, “just because” thoughts, and sometimes… feelings people struggle to say aloud.
So whether you’re sending a bouquet across Bali or across the world, thank you for trusting The Bali Florist to be part of those moments.
Floral regards,
Liza & The Bali Florist Team
